Kansas City Marathon

My sweet husband and the Evans family chased me for 4 hours through tons of traffic and with 7 kids to cheer me on. They deserve an award. 12 weeks of training. I am so happy this is over. And a teeny tiny bit sad.
The trail was my favorite training run.

Spent alot of time in the last 3 months with my tennis shoes and the road. We have a love/hate relationship.
There was one run that had to be done in rain. It was fun.

Race Day.

So thankful for my friend Mary!! She is an amazing person. I dreaded our 4 a.m. trainings, but 10 min. into it she would have me laughing.  Making the runs seem not so bad after all. She was also like an angel on earth the last 2 miles of the marathon. I wouldn't have made it without her.

4:15 was my goal, I got a little ambitious around mile 10 and decided to try and catch the 4:05 pacer. Overall I think that mistake resulted in a worse time. I did not make my goal and came in somewhere around 4:26.

These are ugly but I am documenting them anyway.

This is a small video of the finish.

Lets Go Fly A Kite

When we first moved here I said "What the heck are we going to do with this 2 acre back yard?."  We have found plenty of things. It has been kid heaven. We have deer and wild turkeys and room to play adventures. After the kids are in bed I try to get ready for the next day a bit, one of the things I have had to do is retrieve things from the field, Jadyns backpack, sleeping bags, lunch boxes, ect... The newest adventure Kite Flying. It has become a favorite after school activity of theirs.

 Run Bodey run.

 Attempt number 46.

Ok lets get a little help from dad

 Success.
Phew Kite Flying makes you tired.

Maddux Preschool Soccer Season

I only took the camera to Madduxs first soccer game. Which I really really regret, because he ended up being a soccer super star! It was really fun to watch him. Not because he has alot of skill.  Because he truly doesn't. But because he tries really hard and because he loves it. His first game he scored all 4 goals for his team. And thats how must of the games went. It was funny because he just does not give up. The kid probably burned 800 calories a game. I secretly would hope the coach would sit him a quarter because he plays so hard!  My favorite part was every time after he scored he would turn around and give us a big thumbs up.
